Old Women and Quilts

New Juarez Project

This is the newest project for Juarez.

We recently had a large box of fabric donated specifically for quilts for Mexico. It is beautiful fabric that almost all goes together. There are many "country" motifs. There is probably enough in the box to do 3 king sized quilts.

The fabric and the quilt is being passed around from person to person. Everyone adds a new border. Elsie did the Flying Geese, Laura did the Log Cabins. I am adding some triangle do-dads to the top and bottom so it will become rectangular. Right now it is 54" square.

MCC Auction

This is "Remembering" by Dora. It was part of the feature auction. It sold for $1000.

This is a mobility scooter with additions. Fred Unruh from Lethbridge made & donated it to the auction. It sold for $3200. It was then donated back to the auction for next year. Note the rear view mirror and the MCC thermal mug on the left side.

The auction made $136,500.50 in total. That does't include the food or hobby booths. WOW!

Elsie's Tie Quilt

This quilt is made with actual ties. Elsie said taking them apart was a pain, but the finished quilt looks amazing!
