MCC Auction 2013

This evening Dora, Kathy and I measured, bagged and tagged the eight quilts that we are donating to the Coaldale MCC Auction that's coming up the first weekend in June.  I'm super excited to go to the auction!

A lady from MCC Calgary who happens to be in the area is going to pick up the quilts from my house on Monday.  For whatever reason, the quilts need to be appraised in Calgary before coming back down to the sale.

I'm really excited to be putting one of my own quilts in the sale this year:

Butterflies

Thanks to a massive effort, this king sized quilt was done in weeks!  It will be donated to the next MCC auction in Coaldale.  The butterflies given to us cut from Lisa's grandmother.

Finished Quilts

This past Saturday LBCQ had a quilting bee at the church.  For family reasons, I couldn't be there, but I stopped by Dora's yesterday and she showed me what was finished.

The first quilt is one of my "apple box" quilts, so named because I received three apple boxes full of fabric that I'm going to use to create quilts to be used for God's work.

The second quilt is one that Susan put together using fabrics that a local store called Hollands donated to us.  They very generously gave us a lot of fabric, much of which will be used as backs.

This quilt was made using fabric that Dora "snitched" from MCC so, of course, it is going back to MCC to be sold.  The apple box quilt will be sold at MCC as well.

Surprise from Tanell's

This afternoon I came home to a lovely email from a local fabric shop named Tanell's.

Tanell had two quilt tops for Little Bits of Comfort to quilt and send down to Mexico!  How exciting!  I love presents!

Here they are - lovely bright quilts with fun fabrics.

If you happen to be downtown, please stop by Tanell's and say thanks!  They are at 315 6th Street in Lethbridge.

Today at Dora's

There were a lot of show-and-tells at Dora's today.  Here is a quilt that Laura put together using a donated pieced top from one source and borders from another.  They look made for each other!  This quilt will be available to bid on at the 2013 Coaldale MCC Auction.

Dora's coasters

Laura and Elsie are making this for a wedding gift - it is king size and done entirely of plaid patterns.

Some of the things on Kath's to-do list:

Yo-yo vest #1
and
Dora's quilt made from the 100 charm pack that we all received a few years ago.

Kath's quilt and Dora's using the same fabrics.
and
Kathy's Angel quilt.

Yo-yo vest #2 and a pastel "Apple Box" quilt top from Lisa for LBCQ to tie.

Another "Apple Box" Quilt.

Susan, Tena, Judy and Norma were missing.  Katherine was going to come by in the afternoon after I left.  Please pray for Norma as she broke her arm and is going into surgery today.
